can you lay a floating floor over carpet?

    • admin says:

Definitely not. Even the thinnest carpets are too thick for floating floors. The maximum height you could have under a floating floor, and even this is only for some floors, would be 5mm, and that would really have to be a proper padding.

When installing a floating floor do you leave a gap at the wall or is it to be a tight fit?

    • admin says:

With all but one kind of floating floor you do leave a gap. It can range from 1/4″ to 1/2″ depending on the floor. The instructions will give the specifics for your specific floor.

Loose Lay vinyl plank flooring not only does not need a gap, it should not have one. It is designed to lay snug against your walls, and each plank snug against each other as part of what holds them in place.
